Space-Time resolved Crystal
Spectrometer
|
This is a crystal based spectrograph. The crystal gives energy resolution and 1-D space resolution. A slit is used to obtain space resolution in a direction perpendicular to the dispersion direction. The scintillator-PMT-oscilloscope combination offers a time resolution.
The energy resolution depends on the crystal used, space resolution depends on the slit width and geometry, an the time resolution is limited by the slowest response time of the scintillator / PMT / oscilloscope. The typical parameters for this instrument are:
- Energy resolution : 17 milli angstroms
- Space resolution : 100 microns
- Time resolution : 2-3 nanosec.
